Advert Construction Journey

Prior to creating my digipak, I decided to practice using Picmonkey. Although this follows a typical magazine advert, as it goes with the conventions by inlcuding the name of the album which is 'Unforgettable'. This gave me a lot of ideas, which I then implemented into my final products. We manipulated the image by turning it into black and white and then in various colour adjustments added the grey tone, followed by adjusting the contrast to make it clearer.

This was our orginal image for our magazine cover but because the image was not A4 it did not look professinal like a real magazine cover . To solve this problem we decided to use an image whhich was A4 which you  can see down below .

As mentiotioned preaviously we chose to edit the magazine cover using picmonkey as it was the most easy and effient way. However a downside to this is that there wasnt a wide variety of fonts and features we could use as you had to purchase them.

The font we used was tall, dark and hansome this is because it was bold , really catching the readers eye, but then not too fussy and overcomplicated. this is because as an artist Leilya aims to share simple messages through her songs and not have things be over the top.

I had learned the basics of photoshop but I found photoshop very complicated and had decided to use an online editing software (Picmonkey) to edit and create both the digi-pak and magazine advert. However, the software was quite limiting to an extent because I didn't have as much editing tools such as blur, filtters and so on.

Although Picmonkey , is still arguably more convient for me becuasse I can do editing anywhere I want and not just within school.

When researching other magazine adverts for artists of a similar genre we found they usually included the name of the album, the release date and also some reviews. So we added those to our  magazine advert when choosing our reviews we thought about what kind of media texts such as magazine and newspapers leilyas target audeince would read. we came to the decision that rolling stones and billboard magazine would be one as it is a magazine read by millions of music lovers around the world and as a new and upcoming artist this would be good publicity for leilya when attracting a slighty older audience. in addition we chose teen vogue as it is read by young teenage girls interested in tresnds and fashion and this group is a vital part of  leilyas target audience

To finish our final product we added a small image of the front cover of our didgipak we did this to make it easy for our target audience as when they go to purchase it it is easily recognisable. In addition we added a QR code as a target audience are young and like to follow trends they are likely to have smart phones and can use the QR codes with an app

REVIEW OF THE PROCESS

Over the cause of creating this magazine advert, I have come to the conclusion  that web 2.0 tools like the editing softwares I use are better alternatives to in-built editing softwares like photo-shop. They are quality efficent and economically effecient as I did not have to spend any money to purchase any of them. Also the functions on the web 2.0 tools are far less compilcated to use in comparison to photoshop.
