INTERTEXTUALITY IN MOVIES

An example where intertextuality is used in movies is in  the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ which directly draws our attention back to the TV programme ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’. Although the film’s name does originate from the TV programme, it is based around the life of an orphan from the Mumbai slums who becomes a contestant on the Indian version of the show.

INTERTEXTUALITY : IN SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
INTERTEXTUALITY : IN SNOW WHITE

The image has clearly stated 'Mirror Mirror' had copied the idea directly from the 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' scene. It uses the same scene but different location and storyline for the Mirror mirror film itself. This shows that how the director executed the text from the past virtue film and reinvent them into the reality world.
