During the lesson my peers and I practiced lip synching to the song 'Girlfriend' by Avril lavigne in order to practice. This enabled us to learn about the importance of getting timing correct. We firstly decided to challenge ourselves and include different types of shots. However when it came to editing it proved to be much harder as some words weren't on time with the track.

Lip sync is the technical term for when lip movements are purposely matched with the lyrics that are being sung. There are number of different techniques and processes used for lip syncing

The music industry and other industries is utilizes lip syncing, another name for it is miming. Sometimes it is used by actors in films and TV, making it easier to dance, act and sing at the same time. For instance in musicals, 'The Sound of Music' is an excellent example of near-perfect lip-sync. Another way lip syncing it used is during live performances where an artist may not be as great a singer when they perform live. This is usually frowned upon as the audience feel that the artist doesnt have real talent compared to people who can sing live. For example live performances such as beyonce's performance for Obama when she lip syncing the song and also it used in mainly music videos.

Music tracks are recorded before the music video is produced, artists usually lip-sync to their songs during  the filming of themusic videos. One complex technique that is used is called '50 Frames' this is when artists move their lips at a faster speed then the actual track, after a slow motion effect is used to match the speed of the lip sync to the speed of the song in the final music video. An example of this in practice is in the One Direction 'Story of My Life' music video. Another technique used b some artists is  lip syncing backwards for music videos so when it is reversed, the singer is seen to sing forwards while time appears to move backwards for his or her surroundings.
