How we used Media Technologies
Youtube: Youtube is an online video based media sharing website; and was one of the main online products that I used in order to conduct my research and planning. Ultimately, we made our band & song choices from the combined use of Youtube and our own personal iTunes libraries. After making this choice, we then continued to use Youtube to research our artist further (Jhene Aiko) and looked extensively into live performances. We watched videos of artists across al genres to gain inspiration for our own videos. We also used Youtube to upload our final music video.
Having to use technological resources such as Photoshop to create my ancillary texts, Final Cut Pro and imovie to make the video, it required the use of the schools facilities - the iMacs in the Mac suite. The editing process was made a lot easier at school due to the larger size of the iMac monitors.
Cannon:
The majority of the filming & photos that can be seen associated with Black Sox Scandal were taken or filmed with this digital SLR camera. All of the footage we captured to create the video were recorded across four filming days using the automatic settings on the cameras. Due to the camera being of excellent quality we subsequently able to gather high quality footage fairly easily. We were happy with how the footage came out and therefore we were pleased with the final piece However the party scene was a bit dark which made it slightly hardeer to see what was going on. We managed to over come this durring editing by makeing the clips of the party scene brighter. Coinciding with the use of this camera we has used a SD card in which we used to transfer our footage across to the macs which we used to edit the video on a much simpler and less time consuming task than if we had to transfer the video through a fire wire port or something similar.
Conclusion:
For the most part we used each of these pieces of technology and kit individually in order to complete the process of making the ancillary texts and piecing together our music video. However, it is how these products worked together and made the process much more simple than it could be. If me and Daisy wanted to change anything from a blog post on Wix to a section in the video, we could be online in seconds and we would always have our footage or products with us due to the portability of the memory sticks and SD memory cards. It would not have been a hardship to have to carry the cameras at all times either. To summarise, the whole process was enhanced for me and my partner thanks to the advancements in technology.
Miscellaneous Items:
In order to make this entire process easier we used a number of smaller items, for example when filming we used tripods and stands to steady the cameras for a better quality shot. We used our iPhones to access youtube and other online resources when conducting researching and planning. When filming, we used a Bose Speaker System and again our iPhones in order to project the music in the venue in which we were filming so that they had the music to perform with again another element we thought would help enhance our video as even to the actors it would appear they really where performing the song.
