DIGIPACK CONSTRUCTION JOURNEY
From our preavious reasearch of conventions of a didgi pack. I had a rough idea of what I wanted my digipack to look like, because I already had a photoshoot with our artist Leiyla before the digipack was made, so I already knew what the pictures looked like. This made it easier to plan and draw a sketch of what I imagined the digipack to look like. In the picture below you will find my plan of the digipack.
CREATING THE DIGIPAK
BEFORE I BEGAN:ARTIST BRIEF
My artist (LEIYLA) is an RnB soul music artist- her songs and her image have esentric feel to it and she's a cross between soul muic and alternative R&B.
INTIAL THOUGHTS:
I want a cover thats very simple but yet effective, were the artist is at the cornerstone of the digipak and eventually the audience feel a presence within that digipack a distinctive
connection with the artist. I also want a everlasting feel within the digipak.
STEP 1.
The first thing I did was find a didgi pack template on Powerpoint
STEP 2.
Next, I then added the images I had previously chosen and cropped them accordingly to fit within the frames.
STEP 3.
Following this, I went on to Picmonkey and edited the image in the middle on the bottom row. by using picmonkey's 'add text' button' and slecting a font which suits the theme of our black and white album. I finally chose Dictact Gothic . The reason why I did this was because durring my reasearch and planing stages I found out that the font writting on the album has to correlate with the conventions of our song. In addition to the font style I also decided to take the titles from existing poems which relate to heartbreak and use them as the track names to give the song a deeper meaning.
STRANGER- Is from jhene Aiko's alblum sail out
SWEET LIKE CHERIE- from the poem 'Lovliest of trees, the cherry now' by ALfred Houseman
SURVIVOR - From Destiny's Childs studio album. We choose this becuase it reflects the power of women rejcting stereotypes associated with weakness.
BIGGEST FAN - We used this as a way to connect to 'Fan girls' and make them part of our target audience
MAY I- A sweet love
TOO COOL- This gives our album an urban twist of how relationships for teenagers are stereotypically represented in society.
STEP 4.
I then cropped out the template surronding the images. To make it easier for us to put together instead of printing the digipak and the cutting it the edges off. This help to make the digipak neater and more professional.
I was then left with the digipak looking more realistic and professional.
STEP 5.
Lastly, I printed off the digipak folded and glued them together
STEP 6.
Finally our end product was the digipak
